Start with the total for your group
For a normal doubles court rental, identify the whole-court charge, duration and number of people sharing it. A price advertised per player can look much smaller without being cheaper. Clinics often charge each participant because coaching and an organised group are part of the product. For a newcomer without partners, that package can be better value than a lower-priced empty court.
A ninety-minute comparison in Chicago
Cube Chicago lists $85 per court per hour before 4pm on weekdays and $120 per court per hour at peak times. Proximo lists $150 for a regular ninety-minute reservation and $170 at prime time. For four players sharing ninety minutes, those court-only examples work out to $31.88 each at Cube off-peak or $45 at Cube peak, versus $37.50 or $42.50 at Proximo. These are calculations from the published rate structures, not quotes for a particular available booking. The clubs define their own time bands, and extras or checkout charges can change the payable total.
Add equipment before comparing
Cube lists $5 racket rental for a non-member. Padel Boston lists a $9 rental racket, $15 premium demo and $10 for a tube of balls to buy. Equipment included in an introduction can therefore change which session makes sense. If your group needs four rackets, do not compare the court charge alone with a package that already supplies them. A demo rental is also a different product from the cheapest rental racket.
A membership is a recurring commitment
Priority booking and discounts have value only if you use them. Start with the sessions you would genuinely book in a normal month, apply the actual member rate, then add the subscription and any initiation charge. Treat access to a gym or lounge separately if you would not otherwise pay for it. A longer booking window can matter more than a small discount when your group always needs the same evening slot, but neither benefit guarantees an available court.
Read the cancellation outcome
A cancellation credit is not a refund to your payment card. Cube Chicago and Padel Boston both describe club-credit outcomes in their policies. Outdoor weather terms are another separate condition. Before collecting money from your partners, agree who holds the booking and what happens if one person drops out. For a first session, buy the smallest useful commitment: an introduction or a single rental, not a membership chosen before you know whether you like the game.
