Placement before maximum smash weight
Penso describes the standard Neuron as a hybrid-shaped, neutrally balanced racket that combines control with enough power to finish points. His comparison places it with the patient player who constructs a rally rather than relying on one overwhelming shot. That makes it an informative alternative to XPLO’s more demanding head-heavy approach.
Do not substitute the Cloud edition
The review gives Neuron and Neuron Cloud separate sections. The standard model uses the 3K carbon and MultiEVA combination described in the test; Cloud changes the core and feel. If you are following Penso’s assessment of the standard Neuron, make sure a shop or demo programme is supplying that version rather than treating Cloud as a cosmetic update.
Make the demo match the decision
Compare a blocked volley, a deep defensive lob and a deliberate finishing shot. The point of choosing this model is a useful response across those situations. If you only test a basket of overheads, you miss the balance of control and handling that makes Penso recommend it.
What to try on court
Shortlist standard Neuron for an all-court demo against the more head-heavy XPLO. Choose it for the response you can control, not because it is associated with a particular professional.
