HEAD Speed 2025: ONE and ONE X · Padel Magazine

Article: Stéphane Penso · 2024-12-10

The reviewer thanks HEAD’s Evan Grand for providing the new products.

Why the lighter version matters

Penso describes the Speed ONE as particularly pleasant to move at the net and in defence. Compared with ONE X, he finds a similar forgiving contact area but less power and impact stability. That distinction gives this model its own reader job: reducing the effort of moving the racket, rather than maximising the weight behind a finishing shot.

Not merely a different colour

The review separates the lighter ONE from ONE X by weight and also notes that ONE lacks the heavier model’s Damp Plus feature. Keep those observations separate: easier movement is not proof of better vibration isolation. Judge the complete response on both a quick volley and a hard incoming ball.

A practical way to compare

Try returning a difficult serve, preparing a volley and recovering for the next ball with both models. If ONE helps you arrive earlier and make cleaner contact, that may matter more than a stronger isolated smash with ONE X. If hard incoming balls repeatedly push the racket off line, pay attention to the stability you give up.

What to try on court

Shortlist the lighter ONE when fast preparation is your priority. Use ONE X as the direct comparison if you want more stability against pace.
